A key requirement for the oil exploration industry is access to a ready supply of water.
Installing casing that secures the hole drilled so far and prevents exchange of fluids between rock and drilling mud
The most important use is as a component of drilling fluids, a carefully engineered mix of solids including such as bentonite and water. The drilling fluid when made up is invariably referred to as 'mud' and maintained by the mud man, a key member of the drilling rig's team.
As the hole is drilled, the mud is circulated through the hole and acts to clean the cuttings away from the drill bit as the fluid is pumped down through the drill string and then up to the surface by way of the freshly drilled hole.
The mud will have additional functions: cleaning and cooling the drill bit; the solids can be used to permeate the pores of the rock that has been drilled providing a seal and thus keeping the fluids in the hole and the surrounding rock seperated.
One of the most important functions is to provide a balance in pressure, as the hole gets deeper and the pressure builds up due to the weight of rock and any fluids or gases naturally in the rock, the density of the mud will be modified to balance the pore pressure of the strata being drilled through.
We can provide bulk water deliveries in the South East of England for oil exploration and other drilling activities, in particular where drilling is to be carried out away from mains water supplies.
We are also able to provide removal and recycling services for used water based drilling fluids.
And our list of customers is equally diverse. We have supplied tankered water to customers such as: Hotels; Offices; Banks; very well known pop festivals; the MOD; councils; the Government; TV production companies; farmers and of course the public.
